"Le Triomphe de Flore" (The Triumph of Flora) represents Flora, the Roman goddess of spring, riding in a chariot pulled by lions and surrounded by a procession of figures. In the center, Flora, Roman goddess reigning over flowers and gardens, is surrounded by a circle of seven mischievous children, putti strongly influenced by the art of the Flemish painter Rubens. The work was created in the mid-19th century and is considered one of Carpeaux's masterpieces. Created to adorn the Pavillon de Flore in the Louvre Palace in Paris. Carpeaux shows a certain audacity in the representation of the female body, attitudes and facial expressions.
