"The Fontana del Pantheon" (English: Fountain of the Pantheon) was commissioned by Pope Gregory XIII and is located in the Piazza della Rotonda, Rome, in front of the Roman Pantheon. The fountain features a large basin supported by a cylindrical pedestal, which is surrounded by a circular bench and several smaller basins. A statue of the god Oceanus, who was believed to be the ruler of the oceans in classical mythology, stands at the center of the basin. The Fontana del Pantheon is a magnificent example of Renaissance-era waterworks, and it remains a popular gathering place for tourists and locals alike. It was designed by Giacomo Della Porta in 1575 and sculpted out of marble by Leonardo Sormani.
